It has been an interesting past couple of years to say the least! This little flower business of mine both saved me and has almost taken me under! I've always done weddings and special events on a large scale, with multiple teams executing multiple functions and tasks. To start a same day delivery flower business in my garage as a result of the pandemic, which I have not been in the industry of, has been dizzying.
There are so many things that I never considered when starting my own business. First, to start it with little or no money is extremely difficult to do. Instantly, Google and Yelp were on my heels trying to get me to buy into their platform when I didn't have my own platform to stand on yet.
I admit, I still haven't signed into any of their platforms. Working from home is a struggle as it is really hard to manage between life and work. Delegating the necessary time to the business, NOT folding the towels in the dryer, has been an adjustment that is proving to be on going.
Designing comes naturally, it's what I truly enjoy, it brings my heart such hope to help spread the message of love through flowers. Keeping this at a cost that is both affordable for my customer and profitable for me, has been a balancing act that I have still not perfected. I love flowers so much, it brings such joy and hope to peoples homes, special moments that will be forever cherished and possibly remembered through the touch or smell of flowers is beautiful and I am forever blessed and grateful to have this skill that I can pass down.
Now that the dust has settled a bit from everything that the pandemic brought and took away, it's time to re-evaluate what it is that I have created. It is time to take a closer look at all aspects and start to make something that I hope will turn into a legacy that my family can hold on to for generations to come. The best stories start in a garage, here's the start of mine.
